Time of Day Synchronization Using NTP

EdT Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I am trying to synchronize the time between a 315-2 pn/dpCPU and aPC using the "Time-of-Day Synchronization" tab in the hardware configuration of the PLC. I put in the server address, and am running "AboutTime" as a NTP time server on the PC. If anyone can help me in getting this to work I would appreciate it. Siemens tech support gave me the idea but I can't find the person who suggested it.

The IP address for the server have to be reached, so try it with an ping to the server IPaddress by connecting an PC on the connection of the CPU 315 PN. When both points above are ok (and loaded ) then you can't do anymore on the CPU-side. Then the server is not or not good working, try to find out if you could see somewhere the propertys how the server is defined and if the IP-Address is ok. A next check you could do is looking on the network if the NTP frames are visible... You could use WIRESHARK, a free program that also recognize PROFINET frames. If you have a switch in the network you have to mirror the port of the NTP-server to the port where the WIRESHARK PC is on .
