Again, can you specify, what PLC you are using? If the plc has two ethernet interfaces, I highly recommend connecting your PC and the IOT to the plc.

 Noo! Not the same address, i unedited, sorry. PLC is 192.168.200.106, and the right port 192.168.200.3.

And i said before, i'm using the SIMATIC S7-1200 siemmens PLC, just 1 port.

Remembering: PC(Static route 192.168.200.2) connected to LEFT IOT(192.168.200.1). And RIGHT IOT(192.168.200.3) to the PLC(192.168.200.106).

Edit: I think it could be becouse SIMATIC S7-1200 don't have the PUT/GET option specified at the start of the PDF, maybe is that option that is making troubles. If not, i don't get it.

I tried to configure my network like yours, and I didn't got anything to work. When the IOT had both ports in the same subnet, he seemed really confused and couldn't find the plc, which was also in the same network.

Why don't you just change the IP address of the IOT port connect to your PC in a different subnet.

I mean the IOT is made to connect your local network and send data to cloud via the other port.

Those port are not distinct for nothing, don't use them as you would do with a CPU1215C with interconnected ports.

thanks for the help, at the end, i restarted everything.

I reinstalled the image to the IOT 2040 and configured just the left port, so i have just 1 net.

Then i used a switch to connect the computer, the iot and the plc, so now i have connection between every part.

The problem comes when i deploy the node-red part, i dont know why but nothing is stored in the file that i created. I followed the pdf instructions so i have even the same variables, and configured a program where the variable 'Temperature' is changing every second, so i can store the values.

Do you know where the problem is coming? The rack port and ip are all corrects, i have connection,

Follow the  below procedure 

1.1 Preconditions for S7 communication

Following setting are required to be done in TIA portal-

1. Uncheck the “optimized block access” option in properties of the data block.

2.Enable PUT/GET communication in the device configuration of the S7-1500 PLC. Make sure the box is checked (this allows other applications to access PLC).

NOTE-No programming PLC is required, only a DB is to be created.

1.2 Installing node-red S7 node in IOT device-

1->Precondition- Make sure that the device have access to internet.

2->Get the terminal access of device using valid Putty Connection.

3->Type in “cd /usr/lib/node_modules”to go to the node-red directory .

4->Type in “npm install node-red-contrib-s7”to install the S7 node(internet required).

1.3 Open node-red Web interface-

1->Type in “node /usr/lib/node_modules/node-red/red &”to start node-red.

2->Now to open web interface add the IP-Address of the IOT2040 and the port 1880(node-red port) to a browser(i.e. http://192.168.200.1:1880) .

1.4 Configure node-red program-

1->Choose “s7 in” on the left hand side and add it per Drag&Drop to the middle.

2->Double click on it, to open its properties

3->Add a new Endpoint with IP address, Port, Rack- and Slot number of the S7-PLC    and a reading cycle time. Find this information in the “Device Configuration” of the S7-PLC in the TIA-Portal in properties of PLC.

Our use case-

4->Click on the tab “Variables” in properties of node, Add the variables you want to read out and give them a name of your choice. The address is “DB,DatatypeOffset”. Get this information from the TIA Portal.

(Example- “DB1,INT4” for a int type variable at address/offset 4 in DB1).

5->Choose the required mode and press done.Till now be have configured the S7 node, now let’s see the storage node.

6->Scroll the left bar to “storage” and choose the output node “file” add it per Drag&Drop to the middle and double click on it.

7->Configure Filename, Action and an optional name and Click Done.

8->Wire the nodes and click on deploy.

Observation-Every time a value changes, both values will be appended to the file on the IOT2040. The file can be accessed from location entered earlier.

(Use command cat“filename” to open file from location).
