Hi All

I am about to quote a customer to upgrade their existing safety hardwire system to a Siemens based system.

The basic system layout is a central PLC (300F/400F) with 8 x remote stations all over the plant on fibre.

Each remote station will initially have 32 DI / 16 AI / 16 DQ but be expandable to potentially 5 times that.

Some of the preferred requirements are:-

1) Software downloads without safety shutdown

2) Hardware downloads without safety shutdown

3) CPU and network redundancy

1) is a must , 2) and 3) are preferred depending on cost.

Could anyone please advise on the best approach or give me any other advice.

I have already done a small S7-300F system at a sister company, but it was a single panel, no remote station system, so I am aware of the programming side of things, I just need pointers for going big!
