I am new to Siemens step 7 and need all the help I can get.  I have an analog 4-20 mA signal from a level transmitter (I have 6ES7 331-7RD00-0AB0 Input module). Please advise me what is the input signal type (Real, Word , Integer or some thing like MD). If it is MD or any thing else, please tell me how I can configure it.

have a look in this manual, chapter 5:

SIMATIC S7-300 S7-300 Module data

normally it is an integer with a value from 0-27648 for 0-100% or from -27647 to 27648 for -100% to 100%.

Devices with Measurement for temperature are showing the temperature in 1/10 or 1/100 degree.
