But the runtime is no real time system like the PLC, so 10ms will not work. Even any other value below 1s is not useful due to the runtime system and the communication between PLC and runtime. And another thing called "Logging Cycle". Minimum for Logging Cycle is 1 sec. And please note that If the logging cycle is less than the update cycle of the tag (Aqusation Cycle), the current value of the tag is always logged and the tag is not updated in addition. Hope this helps.

If you Use WinCC then you have another option as described in this Application note : How do you use SFB37 (AR_SEND) for process-driven archiving of process values in WinCC Tag Logging archives? For other applications, for Speeds better than 100ms , you need to go in for a Dedicated High speed Trending system like : ibaPDA - In my openion, the fastest and the best High speed Trending system PLC Analyser Hope this helps Cheers Navnag

That is Exactly what I said " The best that you can hope to achieve " ( At least in the near future until Gigabit Ports become standard on PLCs and HMIs

Murof Platinum Expert Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 1/16/2026 Posts: 16644 Rating: (1944)	Hello you can use the aquisition Mode for the Archiving to on Demand. Then you can use the "Value Change" Event of a Tag to log the Tag into the Archive. But the 100ms is a theoretical value. You have to look at the normal aquisition cycle of a Tag. Here you can use 100ms for fastest Value. But it depends on the communication traffic and the Communication itself (Ethernet, MPI OPC) if this value can be reached or not. I would say out of experience Values under 250 ms are not possible or hard to reach. so when you log a Tag then WinCC flexible uses the Value out of the Tag management, not directly from the PLC DB. So the aquisition cycle of the Tag has to be at least min. half the Time as in the Aquisition cycle of the Logging. for example: Aquisitoin cycle Tag: 250ms; Aquisitoin cycle Logging: 500ms If you do not use this you will get often wrong values in logging. SO if you use the Trigger for archiving the Tags you should reach less than 1s. Bye Murof

EKEK Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello, I would like to ask if anyone has achieved to log tag in 200ms cycle using the on demand aqcuisition mode? With the Murof's rule of thumb that would be: Aquisitoin cycle Tag: 100ms; Aquisitoin cycle Logging: 200ms. Best regards, EK
