trying to use the ADODC control to connect to a database

snapper007 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I have a PC577 running WinCC 2005 Advanced. I also have a database on the same machine I am trying to connect to using the Microsoft Active X Control ADODC. Under "Tools" then "My Controls" I insert the object onto my screen. I fill in all the information under the "General tab". To connect to my database I use the "Use Connection String" then test the connection and it works fine. Then under the "RecordSource" tab under "Command Type" I use "adCmdTable" then on the drop down list below I pick the table of records I want to connect to. Now I check for error and it says "Fatal ERROR: screen item Screen_1 in screen Screen_1 contains inconsistent data and should be deleted." I have tried for several days now and cannot figure it out. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Attachment wincc_error.JPG (443 Downloads)

snapper007 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Theprevious post is very useful for writing script. I am able to write script to populate my database. It isjust navigating through records to display them. I am having issues doing that because script does not continuously run or run in the background. This Active X control would be very useful to connect to the database then use a FlexGrid Active X control to display the records.

booboo Posts: 1 Rating: (1)	I am looking for the exact same control. I can get it to work in VB but not in WinCC. The ADODC control is available but doesn't work. It works within Rockwell's RSView... What's with that! Keep me posted.

Controls_Guy Posts: 30 Rating: (2)	You could run the script at a fix frequency. For example, you could use the scheduler built into WinCC Flex but the minimum time frequency is 1hr. If you required a time much shorter use a timer or interupt on the PLC side to set a bit to trigger the script to run on the HMI side.
