Then it is.. keep it simple; keep it to trace easily; keep it standard. The "old" school way does not suit to many service personal. ..as a designer though, I thank you for the share. w

If the local service personal can't handle the programming, I have to make endless trips to the cuctomer. Would not be that big of a deal, if it would not involve a 15 hour flight each time. But than again, if we lock the FB as part of the "internal" programming so that the can't change or modify it, it may work. Need to tink about it and try it when I'm back home. As for the moment I'm still in Malaysia on a project that will extend to the coming week. Some on nicked 3 km of our feedline for a sub station. That pushes us a bit. We need to run a 72 hour FAT test and that did put a stop on that for the moment. But at last, my mate und I got some sleep by now - in a server room! Maybe I can get my hands on a S7 controller here so that we can try it. Time to play should be there until the new power line is installed. I keep you all posted on the way I will go. But thanks for the support and interest! MadCat

MadCat Posts: 25 Rating: (0)	Hi Jens, stress is a part of it. You will have the same I would guess. Customers always want to have things done yesterday - it will never change. The server room was and still is the best option - aircon! Our "normal" room is a modified container with no aircon. So, we are happy here. I did try the solution with SFB 4 + 5 but TIA don't like the use of IEC timers for the S7-317 2PN/DP. Still, I don't get the point why the timer is giving us that much of an issue. I did like you option, but I have to think on the other people that will have access to the programming and there I do see issues. Like I mentioned before, Siemens is a new line for us. I did go for the Siemens option because it was the "easy" to get the interface for the SAP application done. In fact, I have now a FB ready that can handle SAP, SQL and Oracle databases. Just need to select the correct ID (INT input at the FB). The rest is done in the FB. In the simulation it works as planned. But I will have to do some testing when I'm back in the office next week. We have 16 hours on the FAT test and than some smaller modifications to the SCADA application and than we are done here. For the timer issue: Well, I will have to keep locking for an solution that is as simple as it get's. We will have to go with a option, were we will use the clockpuls and a counter. Let's hope Siemens will have a closer look at the timer issue and go with an option that lets us use IEC timers in future. MadCat
