Joseph_B Posts: 28 Rating: (1)	Hello, well... depending on the Protocol you want to use you have different possible ways. If you want to use PROFIBUS DP you may use either one side as DP Slave or the other side as DP Master or you use a DP/DP Coupler, that way you have a DP Slave you may add to both sides and over the I/O Data you may exchange the data you want to transfer. If you want to use PROFIBUS FDL you may configure FDL SDA or FDL SDN Connections to the S7 and you transfer data. If you want to use PROFIBUS FMS you may use a Master-Master-Acyclic-Interface and you transfer Index variables or named variables. All this is possible, the last two ways would require the use of a PROFIBUS CP like CP 343-5 or CP 443-5 Basic in the S7 PLC. Best regards J_Bell

If theS7 PLC shall be a Profibus DP slave and theABB PLC must beits Profibus DP master, then you have to import a GSD file fromS7 into the Profibus configuration of theABB master. If both ABB and S7 are Profibus DP masters, and they exchange data via a DP/DP coupler, then you have to import the GSD file for the DP/DP coupler into both ABB and S7 profibus configuration.

mehrdad.a Posts: 39 Rating: (0)	Hi the siemens cpu(313-2DP) is slave ,so i downloaded GSD file of CPU313-2DP siemens but the extension of file is .gse not .gsd ! , is it right or not? thanks

A GSD is the device database file (also called ‘device datasheet’) for PROFIBUS devices.The GSD file, which is provided by the device manufacturer contains a description of the device. GSD files provide a way for an open configuration tool while reading the device information and recognizing the device characteristics. Now, that being said, Profibus International allows manufacturers to publish the gsd file for a product in different languages; the particular extension indicates the language used for that file: - .gsd: default language(English) - .gse: English - .gsf: French - .gsg: German - *.gss: Spanish etc... So your gse file is a gsd file using English text. Open it (with notepad, or any text editor) and see for yourself. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
