CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	I have an HBM machine using 840D Powerline with Siemens motors and 611U drives. When a spindle attachment is used the load meter band goes up to 48% whilst bringing the attachment "up the hill" in rotation. It also gives a short squeak from the motor. If you stop the spindle at the right position the squeak remains constant and the load stays high. (Proving its not a mechanical problem.) I have compared the motor and CS axis drive data with similar machines and the differences arenegligable yet the problem remains only on one machine. Any ideas?

CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	1- Spindle power indicator on control. 2- Shrill electrical noise from spindle drive motor. 3- Stopping the spindle at precisely the right time (certain degrees, ie 245.000 degrees) will hold the load indicator at 48% and the audible noise is constant. CraigSimpson Posts: 159 Rating: (1)	Hi, The squeak is not mechanical, it is an electrical "squeal" from the spindle motor. As I described earlier if the spindle is stopped at the correct degrees the squeal stays and the load meter stays high - even with no motion - ruling out a mechanical problem.

I say that do to a mecanical issue (backlash, blocking or others) combined with a high position (or velocity) control gain the motor is overloading and is "screeching". So try to decrease the velocity or position control gain or try to use some filters. Best Nit
