I'm another linux amateur trying to do a project requiring significant linux knowledge.   My project requires that the IOT2040 send an email with an attached file to an email server on the network.

I have figured out how to get samba and msmtp added to the image, so now I can load the attachment file onto the IOT2040 and send emails without attachments to gmail server.  I find that msmtp doesn't do the MIME encoding of attachments, so I need to use another technique for building the email with attachment before msmtp can send it.   Web research suggests using MUTT for this, but I haven't figured out how to add MUTT to the yocto image.   The next thing I plan to try is to download the MUTT tarball and see if I can get it to compile and run on the IOT2040.

Is this a viable strategy?  Is there a better way to build an email with attachments on the IOT2040?   Is MUTT (or a similar utility) hiding somewhere in the yocto build recipes?
