12Vdc solenoid controlling with 0BA8

R.kra Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I have a 12/24RCE module. With this module I want to control a 12Vdc Solenoid valve. What device do I need to convert the digital output to a 12Vdc supply? I use a 12Vdc car battery as source of the system.

You need to wire the plus of the 12 VDC power supply to one terminal of the relay output. Connect the other side of the relay contact to the positive terminal of the coil of the solenoid valve. Connect the negative terminal of the coil of the solenoid valve to the negative (or 0 VDC) of the 12 VDC power supply.

MYoung Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I've had issues switching 12VDC solenoid valves with PLCs. The high inrush current tends to be hard on the relay contacts of the PLC. I'd suggest driving a high current (30A) rated relay with the PLC, and run the solenoid valve through the high current contacts on the relay. I'd try something like this: Bosch 0332209150
