Node Red "node-red-node-intel-gpio" does not work

tia88 Posts: 15 Rating: (1)	Hi, My base image is 2.1.3. For some reason I cannot directly update to image 2.2. Therefore I've done some updates manually (nodejs v6.12.3, npm v6.9.0, node red v0.20.5). Doing this, now I have a problem with the node red module "Intel GPIO". In the Manage Palette tab where all modules are listed I can see that "node-red-node-intel-gpio" v0.0.6 does not work because of "Error: Cannot find module 'mraa' (line:3)" (4x). Beside some other modules, this is installed below the node_modules folder: /usr/lib/node_modules/mraa/ (containing: mraa.node, package.json) /usr/lib/node_modules/node-red-node-intel-gpio/ I would assume, that there is an issue with mraa, but an other node red module "node-red-contrib-IoT2000-gpio" v1.1.0 works like a charm. And this module does also require mraa. The difference to the other module is, it is located in: /usr/lib/node_modules/node-red/node_modules/node-red-contrib-IoT2000-gpiov2/ Is there any idea, why "node-red-node-intel-gpio" cannot fine module 'mraa'? tia88 Posts: 15 Rating: (1)	Just for (my :) ) reference, I solved the issue using the package from here: https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf/ww/en/posts/specific-nodes-for-iot2000/176929/?page=0&pageSize=10 I've disabled the Intel gpio module and enabled the iot2000 gpio module. Seems to work as expected. Unfortunately there is a newer version mentioned but not linked anymore.

You mention /usr/lib/node_modules/node-red/node_modules/node-red-contrib-IoT2000-gpiov2/, these are the latest nodes. Did you download them from here? There are some problems with mraa, but in this version of the nodes the have been solved. Best regards!

Even if this concrete issue is solved, you will likely run into other effects. And that is because we have to recompile and even patch native (binary) parts of the stack like Node.js itself or mraa.

Because the 2.2.0 image is not compatible with "MindConnect 2040". ;) You know... bergmanu You mention /usr/lib/node_modules/node-red/node_modules/node-red-contrib-IoT2000-gpiov2/, these are the latest nodes. Did you download them from here? As I found out, there are 3 modules for a similar task: node-red-node-intel-gpio (v0.0.6) - seems to be the "original" node-red-contrib-iot2000 (v1.1.0) - is a replacement for node-red-node-intel-gpio and special adopted for the iot2000 hardware node-red-contrib-IoT2000-gpiov2 - module made by an user, which only handles DI, user button and user LED My installation in /usr/lib/node-modules/ is: mraa node-red-node-intel-gpio -> not working (cannot load 'mraa') node-red/node-modules/node-red-contrib-iot2000 -> working (seems to...) node-red/node-modules/node-red-contrib-IoT2000v2 -> working So on my side, I can live with this installation. Best Regards! P.S. Maybe at any time there will be an image update, which also works with the "Mindconnect 2040". Is the hardware really such different?

We changed this in the kernel used first in 2.2.0, and we adjusted it for 2.2.1 and 2.4.0 in a way that should include the MindConnect hardware as well (namely its platform identification string).
