I many years read this forum. but I decided to register only now.

I had an interesting task to replace a single controller S7 414-3 with a redundant controller S7 417-5H. Briefly about the existing system: the controller S7 414-3 is connected to many rack of modules S7-300 using IM153-2.

I changed all IM with redundant 6ES7153-2BA10-0XB0. Next, I need to replace the controller, but to save the addresses of the modules.

For this, In the Hardware tool of the Simatic Manager program, I tried to replace 414-3 to 417-5. Replacement was successful, but I cannot add a second (H) controller because the original configuration uses the single rack UR1. And rack UR2-H also can not add, because in the original configuration in Simatic Manager selected group "SIMATIC 400 Station" and not "SIMATIC H Station". Please help how I can replace the controller in Hardware and make a redundant configuration? Or in this case I only need to create a new station in Simatic Manager and configure Hardware from a empty sheet?

U just need to modify hardware configuration.

There are multiple ways but see below mine one-

1. Create H project: Create new project. Insert H station. Drag both CPU. Add manually all existing modules & keep addresses identical. Compile & Save. U can refer installed manual 'Fault tolerant system' available in Siemens -documentation. Compile all in Net -pro also if possible.

2. Open Old project . Copy all blocks except system data from old to new project. Copy symbols table, source files if any to new project.

3. In new project- Check block consistency (compile all).  

Note- It's better if u could replace S7 timers with  IEC block  or own timer blocks in logic.
