you can't use CPUs with different firmware as H-System. For a H-System you have to use the identical CPUs (thats include the firmware). See the manual SIMATIC Fault-tolerant systems S7-400H at section 3.2 Rules for the assembly of fault-tolerant stations.

So you have to update the firmware of the old controller.

there's any issur to do the oppsite and downgrade the firlmware of an AS in case i will buy a new AS and the PCS7 version of the system is 8.1 and can't be updated in this tiime ,so may be i can buy a new AS and downgrade the firmware for use with PCS7 8.1 !?

in case i have one single CPU with firmware 8.1, and now i expect to buy a new CPU and change my project to become a redundant AS, i mean the old CPU and the new will be one pair of redundant CPU, in this case i think i will be in obligation to downgrade the new CPU or upgrade the old one. because i guess will not find CPU with the old firmware in the mall 

what do you think about this issue !?

is your question related to a H-system or single CPUs in relation to the version of PCS7  ?

In case of single CPUs you don't need to worry. There is no need that firmware has to match the version of PCS7. You can always use CPUs with the latest firmware. For replacing a defective CPU you don't need to change the configuration in your project. If there is a CPU with firmware 8.0 in your project configured, you can simply exchange it physically by a new one with firmware 8.2. The same is valid if you expand your project on an older PCS7 version with a new CPU. In e.g. you maybe won't find the CPU with firmware 8.1 or 8.2 in PCS7 V8.0 SP2. In that case simply configure the latest available version, for instance 8.0 in your project, but physically put a CPU with fw 8.2 in the cabinet. No need to downgrade the CPU. An other example: The current version of PCS7 is actually V9.0 SP2 (future readers should consider date of this threat). There is no firmware version 9.0 available.

Only for H-systems there is the rule that both CPUs of a redundant pair must have the same firmware version. But this rule is independent from the PCS7 version. I mean, you could have two pairs of redundant controllers. The two controllers of pair 1 could be on fw 8.1 the other two controllers of pair 2 could be on fw 8.2 in reality, while your project is PCS7 V8.0 and hence in your project are controllers fw 8.0 configured.

Yes, this is right, you always get the CPU with the latest firmware. However, if you want to exchange a single CPU with a redundant System, you have to perform a full download in stop anyway.  Therefore i higly recommend to update the old CPU to the latest firmware.
