(0) There is not an extensive manual for Open PCS 7 yet, it will be released soon however.
For now I would suggest to check the WinCC Connectivity Pack manual, most interfaces are similar.
In short. Open PCS 7 (V7.0 SP1) offers:
OPC-DA
OPC-HDA
OPC-AE (and HAE, historical alarms)
OLE-DB (for historical process data and alarms)
Note that all OPC servers provide transparent access to all underlying (redundant) OS Servers
The OLE-DB providers allow you to access the database of an underlying OS Server where Open PCS 7 acts as a "hub".

Do you guys know if the Open PCS7 Server is essentially the same thing as an OPC Server? Does the Open PCS7 Server have access to everything (such as tags)? |
