I am new to Siemens. Today I was loading some changes into a CPU 1511-1 PN. The processor started to fault out until it was unusable. I tried putting a spare memory card into the processor, but the issue is still there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have tried both a factory reset and the memory reset.

How do you delete in TIA Portal like the error below is saying to do?

Did you scan the memory card with windows?  Do not do that.

CPU error: Memory card evaluation error: Inconsistent external load memory structure

current card type: Program card (external load memory)

Function finished/aborted, new startup inhibit set: ..

- External load memory is corrupt (delete in TIA Portal or remove memory card)

PLC_1 / PLC_1

During evaluation of the memory card by the operating system, a disturbance or malfunction was detected on the memory card or in the operating system.

Note the additional information in the diagnostics buffer entry, particularly the reaction (mode transition actually initiated and newly set startup inhibit conditions).

Resolution:

Replacing the memory module normally rectifies the problem.

I have not tried to look at the memory cards on windows.

The part number for the currently installed card is:

6ES7954-8LE03-0AA0

The part number from the spare I tried is:

6ES7954-8LE02-0AA0

I also got the part number of the CPU I am currently using it is:

CPU 1513-1 PN

The spare is for a different system:

CPU 1511-1 PN

When I put the memory card for the spare into the 1513 it was still giving the same error

When you had the PLC powered off and inserted the blank memory card, powered the plc up, did you download the PLC project using TIA Portal at that time?

I reformatted the original memory card using the proccessor. After this I was successfully able to download the program to the control.

Can I ask, how did you execute a format of the memory card from the PLC? I can see that you can do a memory reset or a factory reset, but neither of these formats the memory card to my knowledge?

 on a s7-1500 you can start the memory card format on the plc display (setting menu)

or with tia Portal (Online& Diagnostics -> Functions -> format Memory Card)
