What do you want do by the by ? May be password would have been changed by the user from whom you have brought the machine. Have you checked with the other passwords?

You need to have first a proper machine backups then you can decide of resetting it.

=> what you're doing is right only... but please ensure you're doing it in sequence.

As soon as the "PRESS SELECT" button appears, it immediately loads the system software.  Have tried holding the buttons, pressing them one by one but nothing happens.

==> it will not the load the system software unless we select it. are you seeing the Rest Menu? 

The menu available when pressing SELECT only holds 3 items, none is DEFAULT DATA.

==> Can you share us the photos what you are seeing it? if you see Normal startup select this and see. Also as i told earlier you should have the proper machine backup without this you will not be able restore the machine.
