Arunakat1 Posts: 217 Rating: (52)	Hello, I think Darius is correct. To my knowledge the analog modules should celebrated already. But you should calibrate your analog input signal devise (sensor) or analog out put device. Actually in PLC analog in put module is just a A to D converter. It just converts analog value in to digital value. And analog output means D to A converter it convert digital value to analog value. The certificates you should show is calibrated external devise certificates. And that should be calibrated annually or as they recommend. For siemens certificate is the brand certificate and their technical specification sheet (To my knowledge). I think in analog module must be differential amplifiers, resistors, correcting circuits and other circuits for connecting, for example, termocouples...(usually AD-converters cant connecting direct TC) Also A-D converter may not have constant charachteristics. For this cases I think nesessary callibrating.! Our customers want have callibrating instrunctions and they linked to ISO9001...

Simply saying it is shows In 0mA = 0 And 20mA =32767 These values are from siemens. But lets say we are using a temperature input. That manufacturer should certify say in 0C = 0mA and 100C = 20mA. I also faced same problem you faced but we only calibrate the analog input and outputs. And for PLC side we only provide the siemens product certificates. To my knowledge almost all siemes products obtain ISO certificates. For example - now X(mAs) its A value but tommorow X(mAs) its (A+-dA)value in this cases if I have Possibility to callibrating channel I can say to "Siemens controller" for correction this value.... But I think, I can insert in my internal programm own callibrating modules, to multiple or divide siemens value, but in this case I dont know that of it thinks metrologicaldept.

I think you're talking about sensor error, but not channel. You get analog module with fixed channel error that's declared in datasheet of the module. Senson also get its own error and offcourse you allways get different values. Thats why you know error of analog module and you must know error of your sensor.

andrewF Posts: 87 Rating: (1)	No I talk about Just error of channel! Why you think a chanel have constant error declared in datasheet or specifications? I think exists applications in which this parameters (accuracy and others) may be checked (for example Once per 3 years or 5 years) and calibrating input chanels. As to sensors of cause he also have period of checking and instruction of calibrating (for example 4-20 mA convertor from TC)!

I don't know for how many years or months is this true, but the only way to find out is to write to Siemens support, because no one of us knows why Siemens don't ship certificates with their analog modules. If Siemens says that there is no such documents that no metrologists will accept this module. You need papers. Maybe there is some organizations that can test module and give papers. I don't know, but believe me the first place to ask is manufacturers of module (in this case Siemens).
