Im about to retrofit and old machine with 840Di SL.

Can you still call the hotline to get a new license key for the MCI2 card ?  Is it for free ?  What number do you call in sweden ?

I have only worked with a very small number of 840Di SL controllers in the field but since you have not received a response I'll answer as best I can.

840Di SL was cancelled as of October 2013 and since then has been supported as spare parts only which is intended for maintenance of pre existing systems and so not used for new installs

With this in mind purchasing a "new" license would not (to my knowledge) be possible, only the transfer of a pre existing license would be supported by the Siemens hotline in Germany - for example if the MCI board on a machine needed replacing with a spare part .

If the PCU50 and MCI2 board were sold as a pair no license transfer should be necessary as the license key will already be paired to the PCU hardware.

That beings said if transfer is need the case has to be made by raising a support request online.
