Dear all

Iam new for CNC and want to work on old machine imported from Germany which is not functional by now

the machine is

TRAUB

IND360

CNC LATHE.

I WANT TO CHANGE THE CONTROL SYSTEM TO Sinumerik please help me where to start , to grap all the necessary knowledge needed for this project

The attached snap is of machine name plate & it did not explains about CNC system.

In Siemens Sinumeric CNC automation system,PL - Power line is old generation system which is obsolete & latest is SL - Solution line. 

To retrofit CNC system, basically you need to know machine number of axes, geometric & interpolatiion type, type of input/outputs connected e.g. digital, analog, motors connected, if any external encoders/scales connected, turret tool post or tool magazine, machine mechanics, auxiliary systems connected/installed, application etc. etc. 

Since it involves lot of engineering I suggest you to contact your nearest Siemens support center along wth details/data mentioned above. Siemens will support & submit you correct solution. 

Meanwhile to upgrade your Siemens Sinumerik CNC knowledge about NC, PLC, drives, network communication etc. etc., please refer below link & refer manuals.
