Siemens is so far behind AB in their UI it isn't even funny or sad...just disappointing. In AB rungs resize depending on window, you can customize almost every color and I think you can even change the text font. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

I've noticed quite a few AB programmers jumping into Siemens it looks like the latter is gaining market share. If you intend on doing more than a very very small project or some minor changes, stop everything you're doing and spend time learning or as I call it: allow yourself to be indoctrinated by Siemens just as you have been by AB; otherwise you're just going to keep benignant your head again the wall. Automation software and actually most if not all software has nothing whatsoever to with intelligence not in any way intuitive. Few are better than most in presenting their products to users by making available various documentation, webinars, tutorials and example projects . And few of those are intelligent enough to update those resources to keep up with the changes in their products. I don't like AB because I don't like their business model which is pretty much blood sucking. I got used to Siemens so it is difficult to offer objective criticism expect of their tech support who are habitual liars. Forget intuitive, forget AB and accept that there's a learning curve you have to go through learning Siemens or just about any other software. Oh, and take lots of breaks. Here's an anecdote, a few weeks ago I started testing various system modeling software and, probably 5 or six of them. I installed one and could not find "Open" under the file menu so I went for import, no such luck. I tried to drag and drop the projects in the window, nope; I copied the project folder I wanted to open to the "workspace" folder where I created new projects and still couldn't open the project I downloaded from their website. Uninstall, delete and move on; the rest turned out to be almost but not quite as bad. |
