S-7 1500 and Memory Cards

lukemeister Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Today I have unpacked new S-7 1500 PLC and I've tried to upload program and.... nothing- error? No memory card in PLC! So now I have question? Do I need this Simatic Card to PLC? Can I upload Program without it? If yes, what I have to change in PLC/TIA Portal. It is FU@@@@ stupid- in S-7 300 cards were optional. Thaks for your help.

Denilson Pegaia Diamond Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 1/2/2026 Posts: 4436 Rating: (1487)	Hi, S7-1500 (like S7-300 modern CPU) need necessarly a memory card (each this respective type, SD / MMC). One advantage of this, is that you can transport the program in the case of CPU replacement.

One advantage of this, is that you can transport the program in the case of CPU replacement. Are also all the values saved in the memory card if changed via HMI? Or the Memory card is not updated and these values are saved somewhere else? For example, if i have some Analogs to calibrate, and via HMI i change the values, these values are stored also in the correspondant DB of the memory card, or if i transfer the memory card in another PLC i have to put them again? I hope my question it's clear! :D
