Arnaud, is it possible to obtain the Tool Number that works with the TC_DP functions trough the ToolMagazine position. 

We're trying to implement a Tool Check for all the tools with a simple For or While cycle in Siemens 840dl with a magazine of 30 tools but only use around the half. 

Actually in the tool check i'm using the GETT(Tname,DuploNo.) to get the tool number and so it's lenght, etc.

The problem here is

I have 5 machines working but these have different tools in them and different names. So I'd like to make a standard subprogram that can check the tools by tracking the tool number through the magazine position, ignoring the name. 

Or is there a code that could ignore an error like the tool doesn´t exist in the magazine, so i could add the name of all our tools but just ignoring the tools that doesn't belong to that machine.

$P_TOOLNO is indeed the current tool number, the internal tool number that the CNC affect when you create the tool. 

To get the tool number (more precisely the tool name you gave it) you can do this : 

$TC_TP2[$P_ToolNo]

beware that this expression returns a string, not a integer, if you try to put it in a R variable, you'll get the error 12150.

you can try with the following line in mdi, you'll have your tool name as a green message.
