In our company we have a lot of devices added to project in Digsi4 program (about 300 devices) and we have a lot of difficulties syncronising them with a clock. We started to build in GPS clocks, but still there devices dont have same clock. There are still some deviations. I know, that you can send time information to single device at a time. I want to know if there is a way to send time information to all devices simultaniously? Miha

kovy Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi! its not the problem with GPS modules. devices are connected corectly to GPS module and they are getting correct time, but the problem is, that not all devices can be connected to GPS modules, because or the signal is weak or we cannot mount GPS antena there. So actually 60% devices are connected to GPS modules and are having correct time. So the problem are other 40% of devices(about 200 devices). If we start correcting time it will take a lot of our time and work and still we wont be sure if we set clock on all devices correctly. So i would like to know if there is a way to send time information to all devices at the same time using digsi 4 program?

But this is time setting, not time synchronisation. A device considers its clock "synchronous" only when connected to a clock sorce. There are some options: - install more GPS. Siprotec works with milisecond, so any time difference between GPS smaller than miliseconds - and all I know are - won't be a problem. - synchronize Siprotecs using binary input. Some GPS systems can synchronize devices using a binary output. - synchronize using the automation system. Which communication protocol do the Siprotecs have? Mike

kovy Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	yes ttime settings would be better ok then i got the answer, only one device at a time. then we will have to figure something else. we are installing gps modules but like i said, we cannot instal them everywhere. we are using IEC61850.

If your actual GPS doesn't have a NTP Server, you can buy one. They can synchronize thousands of devices - pay attention to the maximal number of request per second. If your automation system is a Sicam PAS and it is already synchronized by your GPS, Sicam also has a NTP Server and can be used to synchronize all your devices. Mike
