 this didnt help me btw. I dont know what "Br" stands for. And that diagram is weird looking, is it even the same PLC as mine? It doesnt look like it fits. Looks like greek to me anyway.

Reading manuals always has something to do with experience. And so is the author of the manuals. There is no general definition of what information is where. At best, there are company guidelines to ensure that manuals are structured in a similar way within a company. Everyone has their own preferences and may find one manufacturer's manuals better or worse than another. In this case, at least the information you want will be in the manual.

The picture posted by gvatte shows the SM 1223, but the wiring of the internal inputs is the same. However, M is not always connected to 1M. The important thing is that 1M is used to close a circuit.

By the way, BR is used as an abbreviation for Best Regards.

Pity, but I can agree with KevinNfoDrives. Siemens sometimes do strange things in usability especially in SOFTWARE. It look like software is making different teams and these teams do not communicate between.There is some problems with hardware, Siemens know them but doesn't fix it, just releasing new versions, with new problems:) Some problems can be solved in formus only. Some other systems almost has no forums, because all is clearly understandable from manuals.

I am working in automation much more than 10 years, with a lot of systems and only siemens has so big difficulties in software/hardware/licensing compatibility.
