I am trying to create overview for alarms for certain areas. For this I need to count the alarms for each designated area and level in the project and display their number per alarm type.

I got this working using VBS scrip and AlarmControl screen object in the runtime. The problem is that this can be demanding while the scrip runs in the Runtime and runtime can get delayed for other scripting.

I have two solutions, however they are performance wise not satisfying.

The script can be triggered on change in alarm control list. This works quite ok, however it can pose a problem when there is alarm incoming and outgoing very fast after each other (i.e. alarm on and off all the time). Then the scripting blocks the whole runtime or causes faults in reading the alarmcontrol. This makes it not a good choice for use. Another possibility is to have the scripting run every 10 seconds. This works, however the runtime must unnecessarily perform it every 10 seconds with performace drop for other scripts and usability of runtime.

How could I improve this?

As a solution I am interested, whether I could do this as a global action, that would be independent of the runtime actions and could run cyclically. As I see it I don't have access then to the AlarmControl through VBS script.

Is there any way I could read those alarms in Global action? Or is it impossible to do this as global cyclical action because I don't have access to alarm control in global actions.

I tried to look into c-script, but I am not that versed in c-script and I am not sure that it would be possible to create such script in global action.
