I just want to display Alarm messages & faults. Thanks in advance !! WinCC Flexible supports up to 8 connections. Not more. So theoretically you can connect 8 inverters, but I'm wondering which protocol are you going to use ? I would choose small PLC as a data gateway to connect lots of inverters and then you will need only one connection in Flexible with PLC to represent all data from inverters.

I want to use Profibus between HMI and Drives to display the messages, I have 5 CU320 with 4 Drives each, 20 motors total. I will consider your suggestion of use a small PLC. Thanks for the information. Believe me, its really good idea ! I've used that lots of times. You can take at least S7-1211C with Profibus master communication processor. It will be relative cheap and will do the job. Just a small data gateway. Just don't forget that is you will use S7-1200 as profibus master then it will be able to connect up to 16 (I hope I'm not worng here ) profibus slaves. For more, you could use 2 profibus master communication modules.

Apart from saving you some money on the PLC, the main advantage of the HMI readingdirectly from the drives is that you can easily access a wide range of parameters (The PLC is very good at doing fast cyclic data exchange, butyou'll need to resort to programmig of acyclic Parameter reads if you want more than the usual). Anyhow, below are a few hopefully helpful links and as far as only displaying Alarm messages & faults are concerned, the work is pretty much already done for you by Siemens: How do you establish a direct connection between HMI Panels and frequency converters (SINAMICS and Micromaster)? How do you set up a direct connection between panel and frequency converter in SIMATIC WinCC (TIA Portal)? How do you insert error messages of a frequency converter (SINAMICS and MICROMASTER) in a WinCC flexible or WinCC (TIA Portal) project? I hope this helps
