I have been able to create an SQL server and also log values into it using normal datalogging functions.

I would like to know if I can find some help with examples on how to go about writing scripts for buttons to:

1. read data from the database,

2. write a value into the database

i understand that a connection is to be made I read that from an example, but what I do not understand is - if i have already used logging functions in tags, my connection has already been made. if i write two scripts, one to read values and other to write - will i have to write the code for establishing a connection in them again - if yes, in each of the scripts?
