Hi Danielle, The version of WinCC installed on both client and server is:
The reason I haven't installed SP4 is because we are migrating an existing production environment that is currently running SP2 to anew hardware platform and I am testing the compatibility. It may be that I will need to go to SP4 but if possible I don't want to make any changes to the software versions. I have attacheda ZIP file with the WinCC log files for both server and client. It does look like there is an error in the xrefs.log file for the WinCC client. Perhaps this may indicate where theproblem is. I have received a reply fromSiemens Supportbut they say they don't know what error Hresult 0x80046105 (null) means but suggested I change my computer name since it had a hyphen in the name and this isn't supported by WinCC. I haven't tried this yet but my understanding is thatit is the underscorecharacter that isn't supported and not hyphen. Anyway I hope the log files shed some light on my problem. Hi, When SP3 for v6.0 was released, WinCC became compatible with Windows XP SP2... and the compatibility with Step7 also changed, when newer versions were released. If you developed the project unde v6.0 SP2 and wish to upgrade the system to SP4, you just should remember to check compatibility for all stations, and upgrade all stations. WinCC isn't downwards compatible, which means if you do engineering under v6.0 SP4 your project won't run properly under v6.0 SP2. So if you upgrade all of the system, checking compatibility, you should have no problem. Check this FAQ out, for project data convertion. You can check the release forms for SP3 and SP4, to see some of what changed with them. Best regards, Danielle |
