data block symbols not coming while program uploading from PLC

arumugashankar Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	hello everyone. I am facing a problem when I upload a program from plc to system using simatic software. I could not find any symbols in the new program. However i can copy symbol file from old back up , but i dont know how to get the symbol description of data block (eg. db 126. dbx1.1). Pls clarify me.

Darius Platinum Expert Joined: 9/28/2005 Last visit: 7/24/2025 Posts: 2957 Rating: (243)	Hi, Symbols are not stored in the PLC. If you upload program from PLC and do not have original project with symbols then you will not be able to see symbols representation. You can see only address.

Pls clarify me. If you have an old back just do a compare and upload the differences that way you won't lose your data block symbols or your symbol table unless the data blocks have changed

When you store project files on MMC you can be sure that anyone can have your full project with symbols

arumugashankar Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	mr.shoib, In my case, symbol table consists of only input and output address and not data block parameter descriptions. Those data block parameters descriptions are given in data block only. When uploaded from plc i could nt find the descriptions in data block
