we have old turning machine with 810 GA2  I have connect PC to system via port 1 ( RS232) and adjust the poort to PLC  connection . In Step5 software the PLC is online with PLC type 150S

but when I want to download the PLC program or reading the directory the massage creating directory is shown and it remains on screen for long time.

Please help me.

What equipment are you using to go online with?.

Has this equipment worked before or does it talk to other S5 plc's ok

Try a command with a short communication requirement and see if that works e.g. Status or IStack(first page only).

Is there currently a problem with the system or are you making changes

Make sure you have a full backup of the system.

I have a Notebook with WIN and Step5 software I use it every day . Everything such as setting ,cable,... are the same as I use before for another 810 sinumerik, but with this machine It seems  the system is too slow!! Which problem may cause to interrupt the communication to programmer?

What do I check? is there any machine data related this problem?

Hi,

When using a usb to rs232 converter I sometimes eperience comms drop outs but it's still workable.

The only data to set up is the interface port which you have already done.

If you're using the connection at the front I would try going direct into the card at the back. I can't remember if the second rs232 port supports plc programming. Try it anyway it could be a dodgy port.

Failing that something may have corrupted tne plc so it's a clear the plc via initial startup and reload again either by step 5 or ascii file backup.

Finally I could connect to PLC . There are only two blocks FB1 and FB2 and no OB1!!!!!?????
