muhammed shafid Experienced Member Joined: 12/25/2018 Last visit: 8/31/2025 Posts: 76 Rating: (0)	Hi friends, One of our CNC machine with sinumerik 840d sl control and sinamics s120 drive system had a drive failure. After replacing the drive with the same one the machine got some error and when we try to restore the back up archive always we are getting time out error. We reset the sinumeric to the factory settings and tried again to reload the archive but same result. Can anybody help us to solve this. Thanks in advance. When we check the drive the electrical board was burned away. The mlfb no. For the damaged one is 6SL3120 2TE21 0AA3 and the new replaced one is 6SL3120 2TE21 0AA4. below am attaching error we got after replacement. Attachment IMG_20200128_131202.jpg (227 Downloads)

Does the error displayed after replacement of module was related to safety function? After replacement of drive module, did you get any alarm/message/warning related with hardware replacement/new hardware found/topology related etc. etc. If yes, you need to go online with STARTER & acknowledge safety related conditions, need to configure motor module identification procedure once again. HTH.

I am not aware about safety function actually. So I couldn't check it. As of now the plc and drive data are erased and its in factory settings. When we try to restore the backup archive it's not working. On sinumerik the ready and run led light green and 7 segment display shows 6 with flashing dot. We are trying to restore from hmi direct. Is there any option to restore the data. I have the complete step 7 project for the machine with us. We are not able to restore any data even plc.

Press MENU SELECT ---> Commissioning ------> Password ------> Set Password -------> Enter "SU****E" Press ENTER. Manufacture access level is set & then try to retsore back up. Please check.

Please check the snaps, it is not "Read in Series Startup" it is "Read in setup start up" also horizontal softkeys are different not visible. Please refer normal screen during backup restore attached here with. I suggest you to clear NC, PLC data, try to boot with start up data & then restore back up. How we can do a restore from ncu direct? Do you have any manual for it.? Do you mean by connecting ncu to step7 using port x127 and reloading the project?
