We have a CPU315-2 DP and a KTP600 Basic Color DP hmi. I have written and successfully downloaded the plc software using Step 7 (v5.4 sp5)and a USB\MPI converter. Ihave started writingthe hmi software using WinCC flexible (v2008 sp2) and I'm trying to transfer a small test program to the KTP600, without any success. The program is compiling ok but then it gives me a message 'connection could not be established'. I would be grateful if anyone could help with the following questions please. 1. Can I transfer the hmi program using the USB\MPI converter or am I on the wrong track altogether? 2. If not, can I use the MPI cable (6ES7 901-0BF00-0AA0) that was supplied to connect the PLC to the HMI? 3. Again if not, can I connect the HMI to the Profibus port of the CPU and then transfer via a pass-through type connection using my MPI connection to the PLC? 4. Again if not, how do I transfer the software to the HMI? I would really appreciate some help on this please. Thanks. Acorn93

IBN-Service Posts: 8946 Rating: (1000)	You deselect the Remote Control, so you have to start the TRANSFER at the Panel before start transfer at PC. Also please check if PG/PC Interface settings are correct, is MPI 187.5k selected? (You find the menue in S7 Manager "Extras") Default MPI is 187.5k, default DP is 1.5M

Acorn93 Member Joined: 6/6/2012 Last visit: 8/31/2025 Posts: 7 Rating: (1)	I finally managed to achieve comms with the hmi by changing the PG\PC interface settings in windows control panel. The hmi then informed me thatit needed an os update before the application could be transferredand WinCC flexible gave me the option to update the OS. I accepted this and the new files were copied over. However the hmi is now stuck on the boot screen showing Bootloader v1.38 and the model of the hmi. I cannot get the menu to load even if I reboot the terminal. I researched doing a factory reset but these all seem to be software based. Is there a way to reboot the terminal and view the transer, run, control panel menu again?

Hello Acorn93, You should perform an OS update with the option "Reset to factory settings" selected. how do you do an operating system update (OS update) on operator panels? also have a look here: What transfer options are available in the various operator panels? it looks you need RS232/PPI multimaster cable or USB/PPI multimaster cable. Hello IBN-Service, I'm sorry, it was not my intention to confuse you Officially the USB PC Adapter is released to transfer the project for some mentioned panels, see the earlier mentioned link. (Read the note about USB PC Adapter) Unofficially the USB PC Adapter might work with other panels, but that is not released. But I have doubt about the possiblity of using the option "reset to factory settings", when you want to perform an OS update. That's why I mentioned to use the PPI multimaster cable. PULSE Posts: 1 Rating: (1)	I everybody! I have exactly the same probem. I tried to update to factory using SIMATIC PC ADAPTATER 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0 but i can't connect with HMI. Is this adaptater usable for these updating? I use prosave v13, i tried with Wincc 2008, Protool, Wincc V11 in tia portal with the same result. Could anyone help me?
