WinCC not running after taking the Project Backup

Dhruva Posts: 89 Rating: (4)	Dear All I was doing a small modification in an existing project ( Addition of Totalizer block in the charts). I did compilation and download of the Charts. After that I did the compilation of OS in the WinCC Runtime. The WinCC was running perfectly. Then I de-activated the WinCC and closed the project; and took the archived Back-up from Simatic Manager. It took approx. 45 minutes to take the Archive, with 5 GB zip size. There was not much Logged data( Normal Taglogging of 1 week). I opened the WinCC project , it took another 5 minutes. When put in runtime it got stuck at Tag logging ( see the attachment). I restarted the PC and started again , but then too same problem. Also, after restart , while opening for the first time it say " Could not connect to SQL Server Data" , although SQL is running. The Second time,I open the project , it opens and gets hang. ABN Posts: 212 Rating: (12)	hi do one thing. close your project completely. Run the script reset_wincc,vbs. and try to run the system once again. probably your data archive has corrupted. If nothing works out then only solution is delete the archive files and restart...it will work but doing that means loosing data.. So try and post your comments

So I retrieved the last Backup and made it run ************************************************************************************************************** It was working OK. But recently the operator complained that the WinCC Runtime got de-activated suddenly . Then tried to make it in runtime , but it got stuck at Taglogging( 50 %). Then the PC was restarted , but no good result. This time the project was not opening. On the Status bar it was showing " Project is Opened " , but WinCC was taking a lot of time to open the Project. Then too we couldn't get the Project opened in the WinCC Explorer. I opened theproperties of the Project path Folder , there it was showing the Folder Size around 50 GB. After Opening the Folder , I saw the <Project_Name>RT.ldf file size was around 49 GB. Then I retrieved the Last Backup and made it run , it was running fine.Then I stopped the SQL Server Services and replaced the <Project_Name>RT.ldf with the Last Backup <Project_Name>RT.ldf. Then the Normal project was running Fine. I couldn't understand why <Project_Name>RT.ldf** File size went to 49 GB? Attachment RT_ldf.jpg (388 Downloads)

Yoga Shankar Posts: 288 Rating: (22)	What you have described points towards a corrupted database in the SQL Server. I would suggest that you try the "Save As" option with the "Reorganisation (Slow) check box ticked. This is equivalent to creating a new project from scratch along with keeping the engineered project work intact. What changes or rather gets regeneratedis the backend database.

Silent Bob Posts: 836 Rating: (100)	Hi, it could be that your data based structure is corrupt. Have you tried to reorganize your database? Maybe the hint from ABN could be useful. Reset the archives to make Tag Logging start faster.

Dhruva Posts: 89 Rating: (4)	Hello Sir What is the purpose of (Project_Name)_RT.ldf ? Just three days earlier its size was 30 MB , but today it was 5 GB. Please tell me the use of this FIle. The WinCC datas are archived in the Archive Manager Folder then why the RT.ldf file is so big ?
