Now we use conventional S7-1500 PLCs and ET200SP (6ES7 155-6AU01-0BN0) remote stations. We have to transfer data between controllers. There is an idea to replace these three PLCs with a redundant one, so that if one CPU malfunctions, control passes to the other. Is it possible to do this without changing remote stations? Denilson Pegaia Diamond Expert Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 12/29/2025 Posts: 4435 Rating: (1487)	In the manual I referred to, in the 4.3.2 Redundancy stays: " You can use the following IO devices on the redundant S7-1500R/H system: • IO devices with system redundancy S2 • IO devices with system redundancy R1 (only S7-1500H as of FW version V3.0) • Standard IO devices over the "Switched S1 device" function of the CPU The System redundancy S2, R1 tolerates errors in the direct IO controller and IO device communication. With a switched S1 device, an interruption of the IO controller and IO device communication is not tolerated. The S1 device fails temporarily and is then resumed if necessary." Both CPU works as a pair. I suggest you take a look at the chapter 4 (System overview) to get a general knowhow of the system and " take a leaf" in the chapter 5 to see the fails situations and the redundancy reaction.
