Hi all,

Been a little while since I've written anything from scratch so just getting back into it. I'm using PID compact to control temperature, I've got my setpoint and input working, setup the PID compact for the right IO, selected the mode to automatic, but when I simulate and change values it looks like the PID compact is offline? When I look at the block it has an exclamation above the commissioning button, and then when inside it says tuning has not been started yet, and controller status Disabled - Inactive. Do I have to tune the controller prior to it working, i'm just trying to get the base of the program working in simulation before I order up the hardware.

according to PID online help and documentation, PID_Compact V2.x, PID_3Step V2.x and PID_Temp do not work with PLCSim for CPU1200.

You could use PLCSim for CPU1500 (usage of the PID is identical there and the simulation is working) or you have to test your program with a real CPU1200.

can you show us how you called the PID_Compact?

Tuning is recommented to find the optimal PID parameters.

maybe you just need to "Reset" the block (in the reset Input). I had a similiar problem and everytime the PLC power off, the PID block started disabled.
