welcome to the Technical Forum! 

You can get a notification for a thread, user or conference, when you mark it as favorite and activate the notification for it. You can set it when you click on the star and bell icon in the right top corner of a thread, user or conference.
Another way to enable it is during the creation of a new thread. Click in the field "Add to favorites / notifications", which you can find under the header.
To manage all your notification visit "My profile - manage profile" or "My favorites" and click on "Settings". There you can disable the notifications in general, temporarily or only your own posts.

 ...there is also the possibility to automatically activate the notification for your own posts in the personal settings under "my Forum". Please go to "my Forum" and then to "My profile - manage profile" and click on "Settings". There you will find the checkbox to activate the automatic notification for your own posts:

You can also set it while creating a new thread by selecting 'Add to favorites/notifications.' Manage or disable notifications anytime through 'My Profile' under 'Settings' or in 'My Favorites.
