I installed PCS7 v9.1 SP2 on laptop for the benefit of learning Simatic Batch and practicing PCS7. After creating a PCS7 project and going by text book chronology of configuration of batch project, I noticed that Simatic batch was working and was able to add materials, create recipes and create orders. I am, however, unable to enable formulae and Libraries on my laptop. I am unable to enable the setting for from project settings for using them. When I click on default setting, it gets enabled, however it does not appear on the tree view. So I restarted simatic batch and to no surprise, the options were disabled in the project settings. I've attached screenshots of the same with the post. Please do advise on what's needed to be done.

I did not come up with a solution for the above-mentioned question, so I reset the OS on the laptop and installed v9.0 SP3 instead. I had the kitchen project opened, configured and all-ready to be started. I opened Simatic batch and added the required group under superuser category. When I opened Simatic batch the system was prompting for Batch Server license which I added while the software was opened (mistake).

I found the library and the formulae categories there but was unable to add anything there including the master recipe. So I had the system restarted and to my utter dismay found that upon opening simatic batch the libraries and the formulae categories were missing as in the previous post.

I had a thought, as I was using batch, OS, ES in the same machine, to add the Simatic Batch Single User and Simatic Batch Single Station licenses as part of the existing set of licenses for checking purpose only. Finally after restarting the PC I noticed that everything was back to normal and was fully functional. All the options which I had described as disabled were enabled and working well.

I guess ultimately it boiled down to the licenses and the appropriate inclusion of them in the systems which activated certain features which was completely unexpected.

Experts, your comments are welcome. Kindly enlighten further with more tips which would help us work more effectively.
