I’m currently working with a SIMATIC S7-1500 CPU 1513-1 PN. I’ve successfully established OPC UA communication directly from the CPU to my OPC UA client.

Now, I’m exploring the possibility of using OPC DA instead. My goal is to establish OPC DA communication directly from the CPU, without using an intermediate server such as Kepware or any external OPC DA gateway.

Is it possible to use the S7-1500 as a native OPC DA server? If not, what would Siemens recommend for achieving OPC DA access in this case?

Any clarification or advice would be greatly appreciated.

No it is not possible, OPC DA (DCOM) is not supported directly by the controller. for OPC DA (DCOM) you need a windows system. so you would need a OPC DA Server on Windows that communicates to the S7 via S7 protocol like the Simatic Net OPC Server:

On the Controller directly only OPC UA Server is supported.
