I have a question regarding data collection in a PLC program.
Let’s say I want to collect data using a counter that increments at every fixed time interval t (non-variable), and repeat this process X times.

In this case, is it mandatory to use the cyclic interrupt OBs (OB30 to OB38), or could it be done in other ways as well?

No. It is not mandatory to use a cyclic interrupt. You can use a time delay interrupt (OB20..) instead. But the use of an interrupt is not a must -- it depends on how accurate you wish to measure time.
