I’m experiencing an issue when creating an HMI connection from C# code.

When I try to set the InitialAddress property, I consistently get the error:

“Unsupported format for Initial Address.”

What’s confusing is that this error occurs even in the following cases:

• Reassigning the existing InitialAddress value from the same connection.
• Copying and pasting the example code directly from the official documentation.
• Using both formats for HostAccessPoint (with ‘=’ and without it, as shown in documentation example).

Because of this, I’m unsure what format is actually expected for InitialAddress.

My questions are:

1. Is there a formal specification or reference that describes the valid format for InitialAddress?
2. Does the expected format depend on the selected Communication Driver (and if so, where is this documented)?
3. Is there a recommended way to validate or inspect a correct InitialAddress value programmatically?

Any clarification or examples would be greatly appreciated.

The documentation I shared is specifically for C#, and the rest of the code works as expected.

The issue occurs only when setting the InitialAddress property. Even when I use the exact code example from the documentation, it consistently throws an “Unsupported format” error. So even example in docs is wrong.

This happens not only when assigning a new value, but also when reassigning an existing InitialAddress value from a connection that was originally created via the UI.
