kamb Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hi Deep, I think I discussed the same application with you previously. I need to have two motors to control the slab cutting torch (right now a DC and an AC motor). If there are two motors on one shaft, in case of failure of one of them, the other one can be used. Regards

PISCEAN 2010 Posts: 8092 Rating: (884)	Hi Kamb, I do remember. But what we discussed in your application is, it is combination of DC & AC motor. Also the application & purpose of this combination is quite different than application of dual winding AC motor. Now in this post what you are asking is a dual speed AC motor. In dual winding motor if any of winding is burnt or failed,then you cannot run the motor, it needs to be get rewound.

kamb Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hi Deep, Good to hear from you. Yes, you are right about the application. In the previous post, I mentioned that there are two motors (AC and DC) on one shaft. AC motor brings the torch to the edge of slab and then DC motor, controlled by a DC drive) do the cutting job. However my client told me that in case of failure of DC motor, the AC one take the torch back to its initial position. Now they think that we can use two motors (both ACs) on one shaft and control one of them for the whole application. In case of motor failure, the second AC motor can take control (although not instantaniously) and AC drive can switch to the second motor. I am confident that if I can provide a solution to their problem, they will accept. Regards
