Exterior lighting project

garion Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hi, I want to use the LOGO! for an exterior lighting project, with the following aims initially: 1. Start/stop at specific times (aka. timer). 2. Dim the lights and increase the brightness when someone approaches (using a sensor). Is there a sample program that I can use? Also, is there a detailed wiring diagram that I can use to show me the connections from the LOGO! to the actual lights? For instance, the lights currently have Live (L), Neutral (N) and Earth (E), which then plugs to a wall-socket or circuit breaker; which I now need to change to go through the LOGO! BTW: On the LOGO!, I noticed that there isn't an 'Earth (E)' connection, which I've noticed does exist on other PLCs? Thanks for the assistance.

Oliver Gonzalez Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	Regarding wiring: 1.- Get a 220VAC Logo as it would be less messy to work only with one supply for all the system: plc, sensor, lights, etc 2.- The relay outputs are not intended to switch on/off the power of the lights, specially if they are not the old days resistance bulbs. So you have to consider to use contactors or main switches to handle the load of the lights, and then they are activated by the LOGO! relays. 3.- Regarding the earth on the LOGO!, it has to be with electrical legal aspects, and I suspect that since it has no metalic parts on it it lacks the earth connection. 4.- The sensor must be connected to one of the digital inputs. If you have a 220VAC normal installation you should see a black or brown cable which should be live (222V) and then a blue cable that should be Neutral (0V). If you have trouble with that, you should first tell us what is the brand and model of the sensor.

I see that there is a LOGO! DM8 230R or LOGO! DM16 230R expansion module. 1. Is there a limit on the number of the modules that can be added to the LOGO! 230RC? 2. Also what is the part number of the cable that needs to be used to connect the LOGO! 230RC to the LOGO DM8 230R? 3. I want to expand the system the system to include the irrigation and alarm system as well. Would I need to add the LOGO! DM8 24R (obviously with a separate 24V power supply). Is this compatible with the LOGO! 230R?

See manual page 34 [Quote] Maximum setup with expansion and communication modules LOGO! supports a maximum of 24 digital inputs, 8 analog inputs, 16 digital outputs, and 2 analog outputs (Page 13). You can achieve the maximum setup in different ways as shown below etc. 2. Logo modules are connected directly to the base module or to module next to it. 3.See manual page 36. Digital modules can only be directly connected to devices of the same voltage class. Regards, Marcjan
