STA Praktikant Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Hi, we are looking for a way to connect a S7-200 CPU via RS232 to a CU310/320. We have customers who use S7-200 with the older Micromaster systems via USS. So if we find a possibility to e.g. start or stop the S120 via RS232 and the CU unit, we would be able to upgrade our customers to S120, too. Is there anywhere a file which discribes how the communication between the CU310/320 and the RS232 is programmed? cu

STA Praktikant Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	I have found a posting in this forum, in which someone says that they connected a Tp170 to the S120 and an engineer has connected via opc a PC to the S120. How does this work when there is no way to do so via RS232 as you said?!?

Drives_Coach Posts: 133 Rating: (13)	In my post with the example using a PC running Simatic net and OPC they were definitly using Profibus or PROFINET/Ethernet communication between PC and drives. Most typical would be Profibus with a CP 5512 Profibus card in the PC. I would agree that the RS232 port shouldonly be used for the AOP30 or commissioning the drive with STARTER if Profibus or Ethernet is not available. For most applied applicationstypical ofSINAMICS S120 the baud rate and bandwidth of RS232 is not sufficient.
