the most funny part is people think FCMA is a type of soft starter, but it is not, it is just a brand name, the trype of soft starter is ' series reactor soft sterter' appearantly it is observed that the said brand name manufacturer uses magnetic or iron core to design the series reactors for the motor which are very low at efficiency, and an risky method. to design a better motor starter one should always use a air core reactors to filter harmonics and get the most efficient way for motor starting, there is another brand name present , which is HFSR [ harmonics free series reactor] which may be sold in less number as marketing was not done, but it has always prooved to be a better choice and a right product for motor soft starter design and manufacxturing. Mr. Kanti, your observations are very correct, 20 years back this was the only easily manufacturable solution with transformer like structure and cheap. now as the technology has evolved, the limitations of FCMA has been overcome by HFSR with PLC based close loop control system. that time 'being rugged' was the ONLY USP for FCMA, but today there is no development over the same and it has become the most out dated systems. fins attached the typical comparison, AttachmentHFSR VS FCMA.pdf (687 Downloads) |
