PC/PPI cable selection missing when installing Microwin 4.0 SP9 under Windows 7 Pro

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1204)	Hi all. Upgrading my PC hardware and trying to get Siemens software to work is a bit of a chalange. I'll give details later.. first the issue - * HP laptop * Windows 7 Pro * Microwin V4.0 SP9 (tried upgrade and clean install) I can get Microwin to install under Win7 without issues. The problem comes in when you wish to download to a PLC. There is no selection for "PC/PPI cable" as the communication medium. As soon as you wish to use communications error messages come up. Maybe it is a Windows 7 issue. Maybe a PC issue. Hopefully not an operator issue [smile]. --- MORE BACKGROUND --- Under Windows 7 Home premium Microwin installs without issues. BUT the TIA Basic (S7-1200) software needs the "PRO" Windows 8 Pro is at a special price to upgrade your PC. Microwin works there too (communication included). TIA does not recognise the Windows version. A friend has Windows 7 Ultimate on an HP computer and software seems to work there. ..should I should rather ask.. where can I buy Windows XP legally for my new PC? --- Is there someone that can puch me in the right direction? S7-200 and S7-1200 software should run onn my PC. Thanks. w
