I'm trying to set up an S7-1512C CPU to talk with a Linux PC using nodave interface but I am finding that the ethernet comms periodically drops out.

This same interface and appliciation has previously worked well on a S7-300 CPU, so I suspected I may have set my hardware up incorrectly.

When I went back to basics and set Ping going on a 1s interval, mostly I would get responses withing 1 to 2 ms however occasionally it would appear to lock up completely and I would loose upto 40 seconds of pings before it would start up again.

What settings could be causing this?

Using the second port I have TIA v14 connected to the CPU and it shows cycle time <5ms so I am not exactly loading the system

Not this time, PC is directly connected to the PLC.

It has improved now I have disconnected the laptop running TIA portal. It is still "glitchy" however the complete drop outs have gone.

I'm now down to a occasional having pings taking 200ms rather than the usual 1 to 2ms.
