hi diwa if my problem is no 3,no 24v from board,what should I do,if change the board will ok.

Dear All ,

As I had promised I have come out with this 1^st part of the "Common Faults in Masterdrives and their solutions". I hope this will help all the forum users for fault finding in the Masterdrive series of drives.

In this chapter we will be discussing about the faults in masterdrive chasis units only. Here we are assuming that the drives are having ac supply rating as 400V i/p and are always fed with 24v at the X9 connector (pin 1 and 2).

You are requested to refer to my earlier postings about the hardware of masterdrives for understanding the names of the different boards I will be using here.

The first fault we are starting today is

F002 Pre-charging fault.

This is a Pre-Charging Fault. This fault comes normally when you have given a ON command to the drive and the DC link voltage has not built up. After getting the on command the microcontroller of the drive first checks for the dc voltage and finds that the required level is not available at the dc terminals. It then trips with fault F002.

Causes for this fault could be any of the following.

1) There is no ac supply given to the drive.

2) If after giving the on command the main contactor has not picked up there will be no as supply to the drive hence no dc voltage and hence this fault.

3) The pre-charging resistor is open. In this case there will be no dc supply even if there is ac supply at the i/p of the drive. Drive will trip on F002 after giving on command.

4) Assuming the ac supply is ok, the main contactor also picks up, the pre-charging resistor is also ok, and if you measure the dc voltage across the DC terminals of the drive with a voltmeter the voltage is also as per the specification (approx 560V dc) but still the drive trips with this F002 fault. You have to now check the value of r006 and compare it with what your voltmeter reading at the same instance. If the values do not match ( you will find the value of r006 is 0v or very much lower than the actual voltage measure by the voltmeter) the drive will trip with F002. What happens here is the actual dc voltage is correct but the DC measuring circuit is not measuring the voltage correctly and the microcontroller feels that the required voltage is not reached and trips the drive with F002. Here the most probable faulty board will be the PSU1/ PSU2 board. The IVI or the CUVC could also be the culprit.
