Hello, I am new to TIA and I have to show the name of the connected user in an alarm control. I am working with TIA V17 and WinCC unified on an MTP1500. 

I've managed to show the connected username in a text box without any problem by using the "@UserName" variable. But i can't figure how to show the same thing in the alarm control. 

I've tried to use "@UserName" as a parameter in an alarm text but it's impossible. I've tried to copy "@UserName" in a WString variable and then show this variable on the alarm control but it shows @1%-30s@. I tried to use the UserName option of the alarm control but it shows nothing. 

So i start to run out of ideas, any help would save me a lot of time !

I've already reached the siemens support, and they told me to use the 34th column "UserName" to display the username, so not really what i hoped for since i told them i had tried that before and it didn't work.

I'll keep asking them, eventually they'll come up with another solution. 

Have you got any replies from them since then? I have the same issue.

what exactly is the usecase here?

i can tell you, that @username does not make any sense, because this might be different if multiple clients/browsers access the runtime. If an alarm is triggered automaticly, which Username should the system display?

Do you want to track, who did something? Then Audit is the option you might be looking at. It's just at a basic function set at the moment, but there you can track, which user did which operation.

The behavior you describe is system behavior of the alarm control.

In the alarm control only user names are shown for operator messages. Alarms triggered by a tag are not related to a user so that the column is not filled.

Described user names are shown in Audit Viewer or in a (Audit) Report.
The Audit Viewer Control is available since TIA Portal V18.

create one internal variable 

alarmusername  WString   <Internal tag>

Step 2

create new report for example

AlarmLogReportwithUsr

Step 3

add alarm log and variable in report

step 4

add screen and put alarm log report button

step 5

add two event in button properties

1.  GetUserName

     Tag(Output)                       alarmusername

2. PrintReport 

     Report                                Alarmlogreportwithusr

Step 6 

set user administration

when you click alarm log report it will ask for user name and password . first event capture username . when you press button second time it will ask for password . after entering password it will ask for report to print

There is no Reports in my tia portal screen. MTP700 Unified Basic. Do you know any other way for unified panels?
