Read and write from excel

Am I missing something? It seems relatively straight forward. Is there a problem reading/writing directly at a Comfort panel? Below is a test code I set up just to read cell A1 of the excel sheet SystemParameters which resides in USB connected to the Comfort Panel HMI. You can only use the MS Excel VB Oject on a PC Based Runtime System like WInCC Advanced RT or WinCC Prof. But not on a Comfort Panel. There you do not have a Excel installed. only a Excel viewer but you need a Excel installation for using the VB Object. I´m sorry but it is as it is. Bye Murof

I can think of using recipe but that's not really the same function. I prefer to directly write the values or read the values. Can notepad be used?
